This time of year means one thing and one thing only, as far as produce goes that is. It’s the beginning of apple season. Lucky for us, however, it’s pretty much apple season all year round. Whether it’s New Zealand Braeburns or Minnesota Honeycrisps*, there’s always something delicious to choose from. So, in celebration of that dependable–and yummy–fruit, I decided to surf the waves for how-to’s using them in decor projects. Here are some of the best:
There is nothing worse than getting a stain that just won’t come out. Here is your first defense guide for some common stains. Keep it mind that stains come out easiest when they are fresh, and stains that have been run through the dryer are almost, but not always, impossible to get out completely.
Blood Stains
The trick that works for me every time is to first run the stain under cold water until the water runs clear. Then take a small amount of shampoo and rub it into the stain. You may have to scrub a little bit to get it out. Rinse again with cold water and hang to dry.

Irish furniture designer/maker John Lee has created the HOLE Table. The dining table is made in Solid Ash. The table is a private commission which was inspired by the coastal location of my client’s house. The inspiration for the “holes” came from eroded sedimentary rock and the effects of erosion.
